Precondition for admission to the Educational Program
A person has the right to study on the educational program, who passed the united national exams in accordance with the order established by the order of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia. A foreign citizen shall be allowed to the program without a united national examination on the basis of applicable legislation; Educational programs can also be accessed on the basis of internal and external mobility
Educational Program Objectives
The purpose of the tourism program is to contribute to the implementation of university missions and to promote GTUNI as an authoritative higher education institution in the country and abroad; Prepare student for competitive labor market challenges and decent membership of the 21st century global society by providing advanced knowledge based on modern scientific, pedagogic and technological achievements.
Main objectives of GTUNI Tourism Bachelor’s Educational program
- Prepare a competent and qualified specialist of tourism industry with a broad knowledge based on modern international and national scientific achievements and specific skills management;
- Provide student with a high degree of critical thinking and independence with diverse aspects of tourism and / or project implementation skills;
- Prepare a student who will have the ability to make correct and reasonable decisions based on the results of the global trends, challenges and problems analysis of tourism;
- Provide student with the use of modern information-communication resources, use of field foreign language with specialists or non-specialists with competent oral and written communication competences.
- Develop student's ability to permanently update knowledge and create it, as well as tourism business sector representatives and community stakeholders all-time learning opportunities and solid base;
- Contribute to the formation and promotion of the right attitude towards tourism as a natural, historical, and multicultural value; Convey this value to students and develop a good and responsible attitude towards professional activities.
The undergraduate program for realization of these objectives offers students a wide range of disciplines with compulsory and elective disciplines, the successful completion will allow them to participate in international exchange programs and professional training programs.
Study Outcomes
Depending on the program's objectives the learning outcomes of the program were developed, defined by the current National Qualification Framework (Order No. 120 / N 10 December 2010) on the basis of the first level of qualification of higher education (Article 3.), Consequences of learning are established as an application of knowledge (knowledge and awareness) that should be able to do (the use of knowledge, conclusion, communication and learning skills) and what values the student should have after completing the program; Learning outcomes of the program defines a satisfactory standard, module or course and to overcome the requirements for obtaining a credit. Description of the educational program modules
The educational program consists of four modules:
Basic Study Courses Module - Includes 36 credits which students are undergoing during four semesters. The module includes both obligatory (24 credits) and optional (12 credits) study courses. The main goal of study courses is to introduce the main directions and concepts of social sciences, as well as enhancement of erudition and development of transferring (general) skills, (Communication, learning skills, values, analysis and synthesis, ability to conclude), Which will provide students with a proper base for mastering the specialty module.
Foreign Language Module – within the framework of the Bachelor’s Program Students will learn foreign language in 4 semesters, which is intetded for 24 credits. The student, who passed another foreign language on the national examinations has the opportunity to study English language from (Beginner and Elementary) levels (6 credits) from Free Credits Module.
Specialty Study Course Module : this module is provided for 126 credits and consists of: compulsory (96 credits) and optional (30 credits) study courses. The module is composed from the consistent and logically related courses based on modern scientific perspectives and practical experience. Module training courses are selected for the national and international standards and experience of tourism. Provides students with basic competencies of business administration and broad knowledge of tourism sphere and compulsory practical skills for future professional work. The completion of the module of specialty envisages professional practice and preparation and defense of bachelor's work.
Practice:12 credits are intended for professional practices, which will enable students to practice in the state and / or private organizations operating in Georgia with which the university has signed a contract on mutual cooperation; Or organization with which the university does not have a contract of mutual cooperation and which is officially confirming the readiness to enroll a particular student. GTUNI offers students a chance to practice three options and a choice: practice in the tour operator, practice in the hotel and research field practice. From 2018-2019, it is planned that students will undergo practice in GIS using modeling and management, in the Center for Training and Consulting GTUNI base, using social media in tour advertising techniques and exploring the booking program (AMADEUS).
The content of the practice is determined in accordance with the goals of the practice and depends on the object profile. Practice helps the student to get acquainted with the "real" sector of tourism business and realize what the area he has chosen to be employed. Find out how to achieve success in tourism business and how to use competences generated in the learning process.
Bachelor's Thesis. The program completes with the relevant research component for undergraduate level, with a bachelor's work which is intended for 12 credits. The bachelor chooses the topic and the supervisor at the end of the seventh semester and at the end of the 8th semester defense the bachelor's work in accordance with the procedures and rules applicable to the GTUNI.
Free Credits Module This module allows the student to make a choice and gain a different course from any academic program applicable at the university with 30 credits. A free credit module can be created by a student based on his own and / or tutor's recommendations.
Study courses are available in the course program curriculum.
Qualification to be granted
After obtaining the number of credits established by the educational program, the graduate is conferred with the Qualification / Academic Degree: Bachelor of Business Administration in Tourism. The graduate will also get the bilingual supplement to the diploma; The Diploma Supplement follows the model developed by the European Commission, European council and UNESCO/ CEPES.
Occupation Sphere
Bachelor can be employed in the state, public and / or private sector, tourism company / agency, hotels, restaurants and occupy the position of the manager, specialist, manager of the lower or intermediate position, taking into account the competences acquired in the learning process, obtained theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Graduates will be able to start their own business with a small initial capital.
