On 7 March 2014 at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia assembled the book authors, researchers, teachers, the Guideline interested students on the review of the book “Journalism” published by Guram Tavartkiladze Teaching University. Students have already been learning the basics of Journalism by using this book.
The review of the book was led by the author of the Georgian – French project idea Guram Tavartkiladze Teaching University professor Marine Vekua.
The review was attended by Professors - Iago Kachkachishvili, Revaz Gachechiladze, Vasil Kacharava, Otar Janelidze, Marine Kharatishvili, Rezo Kldiashvili, Bidzina Baratashvili the Journalism School Dean of the Institute of Public Affairs, Journalists Manana Kartozia and Paata Natsvlishvili.
According to their evaluation and as a result of many years collective work there was established textbook which can be called “Journalism”.
The book is written by the academic and at the same time in plain style. Despite the fact that the book has thirteen authors it establishes the basics of journalism -from the genesis to the modern media economic models and nowhere feel authors’ subjective approach.
Ivane Jakhishvili Tbilisi State University Professor Iago Kachkachishvili emphasized the four main dignity of the book. He said “First - This is a guideline where are together reconciled and organically combined theory and practice; Second - the book is not separate from Georgian reality; Third - "Journalism" is created by considering modern media and postmodernist paradigms and the Fourth dignity is the cultural style and language of the book is with minimal probability of linguistic errors.
The guideline is created for the development of the next generation of journalists.
