On February 16, 2012 the expert of Georgian Geo- information system development fund Zurab Lolashvili made a presentation of the programs of Geo-information systems at Guram Tavartkiladze Teahing University. New educational Course – Geo-information systems in Tourism was taught to the Tourism direction students of Business Administration Faculty from the second term.

Today the owners of technology techniques of dynamic information management are very successful. From this point of view, the dominating role has the spatial data analysis technology which allows solving the several problems at the same time. This is the result of connection of Geography and Information Technology and is known by the name of Geographical Information System (GIS).

The results of Geo- information system (GIS) are based on a number of economic fields’ development and planning. Among them is the tourist industry, its development largely depends on Geo-information systems management. Tourism as an economic planning and developing, polyhedral, the collection of information related on each other is impossible without its processing and analysis. There is no analogue of Geographic Information systems technology in this case.

The presentation of this project was attended by The Deputy Rector Maia Ukleba, The Head of Quality Assurance Department Vaja Khuchua, The Dean of Business Administration Faculty Gela Aladashvili, and Head of Informatics Department Taliko Zhvania.
