In August of current year, under the funding of the US government, within the framework of the "Media Education Program", the head of educational programs of journalism and mass communication of Guram Tavartkiladze Tbilisi Teaching University, Professor Marine Vekua visited USA.

Eleven representatives of eleven higher education institutions operating in Georgia participated in the mentioned project.

As for the American side, Georgian colleagues had to host twenty-five speakers from six universities in the USA (Illinois st. University; De Paul University; Loyola University; Northwestern University; Columbia College; Aurora University).

Mrs. Marine Vekua met with GTUNI academic and administrative staff with the intention of imparting the information and expertise she had acquired while living in the USA.

According to Mrs. Marine Vekua, new many interesting news from US colleagues, they heard many advices and recommendations about the conclusion of the educational programs, structural setting and implementations mechanisms.

And the most important: the study course “digital media” was already added to the journalism program;

The training courses "TV and radio broadcasts" now cover a brand-new topic called "Preparation of broadcast product for online TV/radio platforms." The tasks varied depending on the study course. A joint study titled "Correspondence of Journalism Education and Media Market" will be conducted as part of the project, using Georgia as an example.

The American coworkers' next visit is scheduled for December of this year.
