The aim of the educational program
The aim of the educational program corresponds with Guram Tavartkiladze Tbilisi Teaching University Mission; it is focused on employment media market, which is reflected in the study and practice of creative workshops in practical journalism. The purpose of the Bachelor's Program is achievable and is clearly established in the following provisions namely:
- To acquire and develop the values based on the ideals of democracy and humanism to the Bachelor program students;
- Create conditions for realizing their personal resources and the development of creative skills;
- To train a qualified journalist by offering modern standards of higher quality education;
- To understand journalism as a communication and information system and its role in the political and cultural-educational life of the society;
- Prepare personnel for research work in media field;
- Give opportunity to change the specialty of journalism obtained in the first stage of higher education;
- Using the theoretical aspects and study elements of educational disciplines envisaged by the educational program, prepare the student for further studies in the master's degree;
- To introduce Bachelor basic aspects of modern knowledge of journalism based on general education, current news, development trends, field theories, history and international experience;
- Develop professional approach to journalistic activity and ability to solve problems;
- Prepare for independent journalistic activities for broadcasting and print production process;
- The graduate should analyze the media and other types of text, verbal and visual information and draw relevant conclusions, develop practical recommendations;
- The program aims to develop a graduate in oral and written communication skills in native and foreign languages.
Within the framework of the program creative thematic workshops will be launched, where masters - experienced and well-known journalists, students in small groups will focus on thematic journalism, on coverage of the specific means of mass communication that will help to be a competent reporter in the internal labour media market.

The graduate is able to:
- Use of the existing conditions for the realization of its personal resources and the development of creative skills;
- Independent journalistic activities for preparing broadcast and print media products;
- Competitive media products (according to specific topics that have been studied in a creative workshop) have been created for the internal labour media market ;
- Before making the job in the field of responsibility, creating an action plan, set priorities, determine the sequence;
- To express the actual topic through the selection way and develop the idea regarding the topic;
- Identify the purpose and objectives of practical work;
- With journalistic verification methods to retrieve and process all of the source;
- Correctly select the target audience;
- Find the appropriate key word, Illustrative and accompanying visual, textual, audio or video material and use the appropriate reflection and expression forms and ways.
The graduate possesses:
- Professional approach to journalistic activity and ability to solve problems;
- He knows all the norm, law and regulation provided by the media legislation.
Bachelor's professional activity sphere, object and activity types
- Theoretical knowledge obtained in the learning process, acquired practical skills and some research experience gives the basis, that a person with a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences in Journalism will be able to meet certain criteria in media and other organizations to take the position of the Journalist / correspondent / reporter, the editor, a media manager, press speaker, public relations specialist.
- After completion of the Bachelor's study Program, graduates will be able to continue their studies on a wide range of social sciences programs (Journalism, Mass Communication, International Relations, Public Relations, Media Management, Policy Sciences, etc.).
Awarded Qualification
After obtaining the number of credits established by the educational program and submitting a certificate confirming the level of English language knowledge, the graduate is granted Qualification / Academic Degree: - The Academic Degree of Bachelor of Social Sciences in Journalism and the graduate is granted a diploma in a form established by the state, the graduate is also granted bilingual diploma supplement, established by the European Commission, Council of Europe and UNERCO / CEPES
